ACLU Georgia Awards Mel the National Civil Liberties Award
Mel Visits India with Gandhi's Grandson


Saturday night, December 6, in Atlanta, Georgia, Mel received the ACLU's National Civil Liberties Award for his efforts to apply the 'soulforce' principles of Gandhi and King to the l/g/b/t struggle for justice. On Sunday, 14 December, Mel flys to Delhi, India, to begin a five week study tour with Arun Gandhi, the Mahatma's grandson. Mel will be meeting with leaders of the nonviolent justice movement and visiting historic sites associated with India's struggle for independence, as well as Gandhi ashrams, archives, & study centers. He will return to Gary and home.
